Into the dark there came a light, more radiant than the morning. "On earth there is a love most bright", the angels sing rejoicing. A human child, so small and mild: our God is now a mortal, in grace He is immortal. A prince of peace we have for us, the victor over oppression; by grace divine He will suppress both judgement and transgression. The night of sin, the plight therein before His might are quaking, salvation's dawn is breaking. God, our Creator, came not by our fate to show his glory, for us our King was born to die, a true memento mori.
