Latest thoughts + baroque music / Viimeaikaisia ajatuksia + barokkimusiikkia

Here are some beautiful baroque compositions that have comforted me recently. I've been listening to different versions of "Salve Regina" or "Hail, holy Queen". The medieval request for intercession refers to Mary, the mother of God.

A young girl had faith beyond measure, as a gift from her Redeemer. Christ, our Hope, wouldn't have been born a human being without Mary being there. That means that even the smallest person can change the course of the future (to quote the Lord of the Rings films) - you, too!

So may your days be full of grace, O reader of my blog! We are all sinners, created for virtue and declared just because of the Son of Mary. May we all have Mary's faith in God's steadfast love. Rejoice in the Gospel of her Son's Cross and Resurrection! May rejoicing be the work of us all, and may our work be full of rejoicing.

Tulevaisuutta ei ole ilman toivoa.

Mutta mitä on toivo?
Ja jos tulevaisuutta ei vielä ole,
onko se vain varjo?
Elämä ja ihanuus asettuvat meihin.
Toivo tekee sijansa hentoon sydämeen.
Me muutumme itse siksi tulevaisuudeksi,
jota kaipaamme.
Todelllisuuden valo on lahjaa.
Lempeän, vaatimattoman ja kokemattoman
neitsyen Poika antaa sen.
Järisyttävää.
Katso Lasta.
Minä rakastan armoa, laupeutta,
tuota Jumalan omaehtoista voimaa.

There is no future without hope.
But what is hope?
And if there is no future yet,
is it just a shadow?
Life and sweetness settle into us.
Hope makes a home in a fragile heart.
We are ourselves changed into the future
that we long for.
The light of reality is a gift.
The Son of the gentle, unpretentious and inexperienced virgin
gives it to us.
Earth-shattering.
Look at the Child.
I love grace, mercy,
that self-motivated power of God.

Jumala on rakkaus! Hän on luonut jokaikisen ihmisen. Hän on pelastanut meidät pahan vallasta. Hän antaa uskon. Hyvää kirkastussunnuntain viikkoa! Omnia vincit amor, rakkaus voittaa kaiken!
Gloria Patri... eli: Kunnia Isälle ja Pojalle ja Pyhälle Hengelle, niin kuin oli alussa, nyt on ja aina, iankaikkisesta iankaikkiseen. Aamen.

God is love! He has created every single human being. He has saved us from the power of evil. He is the one who gives faith. Happy week after the Feast of the Transfiguration! Omnia vincit amor, love conquers everythings!

Gloria Patri... that is:
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, and now, and always, and to ages of ages. Amen.
