Grace Song (Armolaulu)

Grace Song by my father, Kari Tikka; lyrics from the Bible: 2 Cor 12:9-10 and Eph 2:8-9. Sung by me (Petri) at St. John the Divine (Anglican Church) in Victoria, British Columbia on July 25th '10. Accompanied by David Stratkauskas.

English (translated by Gracia Grindal; another translation in Evangelical Lutheran Worship 598):

Grace Song

The grace of God is surely all sufficient for me,
for the strength of God is
always perfect in weakness.
When I'm weak, then I am strong.
This is God´s great gift. Amen.

For by grace we have been saved
and even faith is not our own.
It's the gift of God for us
and not the works that we have done.
Don't let anybody boast of this, it's God's great gift. Amen.

This weakness with contentment I accept in myself,
all my hardships, pains and griefs
that lie deep within myself.
When I'm weak, then I am strong.
This is God's great gift. Amen.

For by grace we have been saved
and even faith is not our own.
It's the gift of God for us
and not the works that we have done.
Don't let anybody boast of this, it's God's great gift. Amen.

Suomi:

Armolaulu

Minun armossani on sinulle kylliksi,
sillä voimani tulee täyteen heikkoudessa.
Se on Jumalan suuri lahja. Aamen.

Sillä armosta me olemme pelastetut,
emme tekojemme kautta,
ettei kukaan kerskaisi.
Se on Jumalan suuri lahja. Aamen.

Olen mielistynyt heikkouteen, hätään, vainoihin,
sillä kun olen heikko, silloin olen väkevin.
Se on Jumalan suuri lahja. Amen.

Sillä armosta me olemme pelastetut,
emme tekojemme kautta,
ettei kukaan kerskaisi.
Se on Jumalan suuri lahja. Aamen.

Proclamation

This I believe, this I confess, this I proclaim:
Jesus of Nazareth has forgiven all your sins.
Yours, my friend, you who are reading this.
Jesus, our Lord, is the friend of sinners

- that means me and you.
His death killed our selfishness, pride and lovelessness.
He rose again to justify us by His grace.
This is most certainly true. This love is real.
